Subsidized Studios

24/7 access to modern, light-filled spaces with 11' high ceilings in a doorman building in Midtown Manhattan, offering excellent transit options. Studios range in size from 200 to 440 sq ft.

Membership fees vary according to the size and shape of the studio assigned to the artist and the artist’s demonstrated financial need.

Subsidized membership fees range from $634 to $2,022 per month.

Community

EFA member artists come from all over the world and work at all levels of the art world. You will meet them in the shared space, at monthly events, and by exchanging studio visits. Through EFA Newsgroup you can ask for advice and hear about opportunities. The community is your biggest resource.

EFA RBPMW is the oldest and longest-running community print shop in the United States. Located on the 2nd floor, this cooperative printmaking workspace provides professional-quality printmaking facilities to artists and printmakers of every skill level.

A solitary retreat by the sea is available for up to a month from October to May. This free program is offered in partnership with the Potato Farm Project.

Topics have included Museum Curators, Artists' Legacy Planning, Conservation, Mid-Career Boost, and Writing Clinic.

We routinely offer exclusive tours and provide opportunities for members to build relationships with other arts institutions. Recently we visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art Study Room for Drawings and Prints, Smack Mellon, Swiss Institute, ICP, and Dieu Donné papermaking workshop.
