My work is about color and light contained in a minimal, geometric format. The larger encaustic paintings are are made of layers of pigmented wax, heated, brushed, scraped until the desired color and surface is reached. The oil on canvas paintings, go through a similar process where oil paint is mixed with cold wax and applied, scraped down and reapplied, allowing color to come through and mix creating a flat matte surface. The paint becomes part of the object of the painting not only a surface.
